Are you a good, reliable driver? Do you like helping people who are appreciative and in real need of help? If this describes you, Connections to Care will bring you smiles and miles of satisfaction. Our volunteers have been with us for an average of five years, so they clearly love what they do!
Volunteer Responsibilities: As a Connections to Care volunteer driver, you are responsible for helping your passenger to the car and safely transporting them to and from their appointment. You also stay with them during their appointment. Our passengers must be able to get in and out of a car unassisted. The average age of our passengers is 85 years old. They are so appreciative of all of our drivers. It is truly a rewarding volunteer opportunity.
Volunteering for Connections to Care is FLEXIBLE! YOU choose your schedule and how often you would like to drive. With our web-enabled software, you can go online and choose the rides that fit your lifestyle and schedule. We work with you and your personal schedule!
Requirements: You must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid Illinois driver’s license, have an acceptable driving record, carry an auto liability insurance card (copies of which will need to be shared with Connections to Care) and be fully vaccinated against the COVID virus (proof of vaccination will be required). We will run criminal and driving background checks, as well as we ask for two references. We carry additional liability insurance on all of our drivers.
